            कफोणिभागे गुडं स्थापयित्वा ‘तत् लेढि’ इति कथ्यते चेत् तत् तु अशक्यमेव । २. कफोणिभागे गुडं नास्ति चेदपि तद् अस्तीति मत्वा तस्य लेहनं इति इदम् अर्थद्वयं अनेन न्यायेन बोध्यते ।

लौकिकन्यायाञ्जलिः-

            The maxim of treacle (jaggery) on the elbow. Used of something tantalizingly inaccessible. It is found in Udayana's Atmatattvaviveka. In the Vachaspatyam, however, the nyaya is explained as meaning the absence of a thing, not its inaccessibility. The St. Petersburg Lexicon renders it "like a ball on the elbow."
